Hot off of a 3rd place finish at Orlando Speedworld, Austin and the team were ready to get back at it. Rather than diving the super late model that he had ran the 2 previous races, Austin chose his crate late model because Auburndale Speedway is a very short track where huge amounts of horsepower isn't necessary. In Practice, Austin was decently fast, but had trouble busting off times that would put him up front in qualifying. After practice, crew chief Dave Pletcher made one final adjustment, hoping to find some speed for qualifying.

       In qualifying, Austin would slightly miss his line and turn in a lackluster 9th place qualifying effort. They knew, though, that the car would be good at the end of the race because Austin would save his tires better than some of the other drivers.

       In the race, Austin drove very attentively as he missed wrecks left and right. On lap 50, he had already methodically moved into 5th. During the next 50 laps, Austin would be able to gain 2 more positions and finish 3rd for the second consecutive race. He would also receive "rookie of the race" honors for the second straight week. In his post race interview, Austin said "The car ran very well tonight. We didn't quite have enough to beat the 07, but our car still handled really well at the end when it counts. I'd like to thank my Mom and Dad, Dave Pletcher, Ronnie Enfinger, Tyler Smith, and everyone who makes all of this possible. I am also excited to see that we took the points lead."
