Charlotte County Speedway - August 30, 2008
Austin and the crew decided to go to Charlotte County Speedway in order to get practice for the upcoming ASALMS race at that same track. During Friday practice, the car was pretty good right out of trailer, with a few minor adjustments needed. By the end of the night, Austin was running some very competitive times and felt that he had a good chance of a good finish the following day. For the first few sessions of practice on Saturday, the car was a little bit tight with new tires. So the crew made a small adjustment in order to fix the tight condition. During the last practice, Austin only ran 3 laps (in-order to not "burn-up" his qualifying tires) and ran a time that was faster than he had ran all weekend...on his cool down lap! Austin was confident that he could qualify in the top 5 (out of 23 cars). But as soon as the cars started to line up to qualify, it started to rain. It poured for and hour straight and eventually the race got "rained out." The crew felt like the car was "fixed," because the brake problems were fixed and the car handled good. Austin gained some valuable seat time, and hopefully mother-nature will allow for Austin to get to race next weekend.
